Call for Papers     (pdf-file)

The Asia-Pacific Conferences on Conceptual Modelling provide an annual forum for disseminating the results of innovative research in information modelling and related areas.
The third conference of the series will be held in early 2006 as part of the Australasian Computer Science Week (ACSW 2006), which also includes the following conferences and workshops:

  • The Australasian Computer Science Conference (ACSC)
  • The Australasian Computing Education Conference (ACE)
  • The Australasian Database Conference (ADC)
  • Computing: The Australasian Theory Symposium (CATS)
  • The Asia-Pacific Conference on Conceptual Modelling (APCCM)
  • The Australasian User Interface Conference (AUIC)
  • The Australasian Information Security Workshop (AISW)
  • Australasian Workshop on Grid Computing and e-Research (AusGrid)

The Australasian Computer Science Week 2006 will be hosted by the School of Computing at the University of Tasmania. The Conference venues will be at the Wrest Point Casino in Hobart.

Registration to APCCM will enable delegates to attend sessions in any conference participating in the Australasian Computer Science Week.

Scope of the Conference

The amount, complexity and diversity of information held in computer systems are constantly on the increase, and so are the requirements and challenges to be met for useful access and manipulation of this information. Conceptual modelling is fundamental to the development of up-to-date information and knowledge-based systems. The conference series aims on bringing together experts from all areas of computer science and information systems with a common interest in the subject.

APCCM invites contributions addressing current research in conceptual modelling as well as experiences, novel applications and future challenges. Topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:

  • information recognition and information modelling
  • concepts, concept theories and ontologies
  • methods for developing, validating and communicating conceptual models
  • information systems design methodologies
  • design patterns and object-oriented design
  • conceptual modelling for
    • web-based systems
    • e-business, e-commerce and e-banking systems
    • mobile information systems
    • knowledge management systems
    • decision support and expert systems
    • user interfaces
    • digital libraries
  • business, enterprise and process modelling
  • conceptual modelling quality
  • information and schema integration
  • information customization and user profiles
  • conceptual modelling and user participation
  • knowledge discovery, knowledge representation and knowledge management
  • information retrieval, analysis, visualization and prediction
  • semantic Web
  • conceptual modelling of semi-structured data and XML
  • conceptual modelling of spatial, temporal and biological data
  • evolution and change in conceptual models
  • implementations of information systems
  • reuse, reverse engineering and reengineering
  • software engineering and tools for information systems development
  • philosophical, mathematical and linguistic foundations of conceptual models
  • conceptual models in management science

Submission of papers for review

APCCM invites papers describing original contributions in all fields of conceptual modelling and related areas. Papers should be no more than 10 pages in length conforming to the formatting instructions for the series Conferences in Research and Practice in Information Technology. (Instructions are available in section 'Procedures and Resources for Authors'.) Each paper will be judged on its originality, significance, technical quality, relevance to APCCM and presentation. Submissions of a paper should be regarded as an undertaking that, should the paper be accepted, at least one author will attend the conference to present the work.
Submission to APCCM is closed.

Submission of camera-ready copies

To submit your camera ready version please follow the instructions given at http://www.crpit.com/Authors.html
Please observe in particular the following points.

  1. Ensure that the paper is formatted correctly. This includes using A4 format (not, e.g., US letter!), and the correct fonts and margins.
  2. Ensure that the copyright notice at the base of page 1 is accurate. E.g.. in LaTeX add the commands
